The first step in Link Building
The most common question I am asked from people new to link building is-
What should be the first step to build links?
Today, when thousands of websites are popping ever day, search engines are the most important and natural way of getting traffic to your site. In fact the real motivation of executing link-building campaign is getting higher ranking and position in search engines.
At the time you launch your website, Google or any other search engine does not know about it. After all someone has to tell these search engines about your new website. You can start long and time-consuming link building process by simply adding your website’s URL in Google and Yahoo.
You can submit your link to Google’s database in two ways:
1- Go to www.google.com/addurl and simple enter your website url there. It takes less than a minute to submit your site and it’s completely free. After you enter your website to Google, you are done.
2- You can get one back link from a website already indexed in Google. It may take some time but one day Google will find your site.
Submission to other search engines like Yahoo, Msn, Ask.com is also very important and demand considerable effort at link builder’s end. You can find here some more free and paid search engines to submit your link.
After search engine submission, the best place to get indexed is a web directory. There are hundreds of web directories available on Internet. These can be general, niche, free, paid or bidding directories. You can have a good number of permanent and one-way back links by submitting your website to these directories. There solely purpose is to helping listed websites to gain higher ranking and position in search engines.
If you don’t have any idea about web directories or their niches, I would recommend you to start with free directories. This way you can have permanent back links without spending any money in no time. Once you are familiar with some good web directories in your niche or in general you can have paid listings.
