Why you need backlinks?
Now- a-days link building is the hottest topic in SEO. Everyone seems so desperate for getting backlinks to their sites. Link building is a long, continuous and time consuming process. It takes lots of resources and effort to have the required number of quality backlinks. And if you outsource the whole link building campaign, it could be expensive as well.
But why it is so important to have backlinks? After all it’s site quality and service provided that matters to users. Is the entire link building process is merely for search engines or it has any other use as well?
Backlinks are important
There are two main reasons why we need backlinks and why without them your elegant and even perfect site will die a terrible lonely death.
1- Search engine rankings
Some years back search results were based on only one factor- the relevancy between the keywords being searched and content of website. But after Google coined the term of page rank, things in SEO changed. Backlinks are considered as votes from one site to another site. More votes a site has more popular and quality it is considered. Search engine use this link popularity as a measure to ranks the websites in search results.
Quality backlinks from relevant sites can win you the top position (ranking) among the websites listed in the search results. Top positions mean more visibility and greater chances of business and success.
2- Source of targeted traffic
Backlinks from relevant sites can also be a great source of targeted traffic. Lets say you have a backlink from an established (good ranking and traffic) website in your niche. People visiting this site would be interested in your site as well because of similarity of your website with site they are visiting.
